“She’s not a Regular Doctor, She’s a Cool Doctor.”

Meet Dr. Sheena, a licensed psychologist who works at a hospital and runs her own private practice. When we first connected, she was trying to get her private practice off the ground but only a few inquiries were coming in and they weren’t her favorite type of client.

Fortunately, Dr. Sheena didn’t give up — she knew that her brand and website were to blame for the crickets. She had originally created her website through GoDaddy, and she said it felt misaligned with who she is, who she wanted to work with, and what she wants to offer. Instead, she imagined a different reality…

Dr. Sheena’s 3 BIG Boundary-Pushing Goals

Dr. Sheena’s desired pivot included 3 main elements:

1. Attracting a Specific Type of Client

Before, a lot of men were reaching out to her. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but Dr. Sheena felt that her strengths and passion as a psychologist revolved around helping young, female professionals, like her. Being able to work with clients she connects with means she can help them see even better results and have even more impact on their lives.

2. Being a New Type of Psychologist

There’s a reason I called Dr. Sheena the cool doctor… she isn’t your typical psychologist! She told me about a time in grad school when she felt uncomfortable with the stereotypically distanced doctor-patient vibe. It just didn’t feel like her. Instead, she wanted her new brand to feel laid back, grounded, connective, and like she wasn’t any better than her clients just because she’s a doctor. Preach.

3. Offering a More Approachable Type of Therapy

Lastly, Dr. Sheena wanted a brand that would help create a sense of connection between her and her prospective clients from their very first interaction with her. She wanted to redefine the feelings around therapy to make it feel more approachable and relational.

Fun fact: Dr. Sheena told me that, according to research, the relationship between the client and therapist is the #1 thing that impacts the results the client sees, more so than therapeutic methods! Mind. blown. Safe to say her new brand would play a bigger role than I initially expected!

Next Step? Standing Out & Rising to the Top

We believe that being different will take you the farthest, and Dr. Sheena’s big, scary goals lit a fire under us! We redesigned her business from top to bottom, creating a brand strategy, new logo, and strategic yet approachable website experience. Dr. Sheena called it the “Cinderella Service” — totally transformed!

We used organic elements to feel warm and welcoming, natural yet grounded colors to promote trust and confidence, and hand-drawn touches for that personal feel. She loved how we were able to take all her jumbled thoughts and turn them into visual masterpieces.

We incorporated these into the website design, mixing it all together with enough open space for prospective clients to feel at ease and able to breathe. Would you ever imagine that this is a psychologist’s website?? Me neither! And it worked…

Brand Results One Year Post-Launch

Dr. Sheena told me that she went from getting hardly any inquiries to now getting multiple inquiries a day. More importantly, her ideal client — young, female professionals — immediately started reaching out to her! The transition was instant.

Now, booking sessions with “the exact human I wanted to get to work with” (her words) has transformed how she feels about the work she’s doing. It has made her work feel effortless and reignited her passion for helping others. When she told me this, she said she was “literally getting chills.” That’s the power of a well-branded business.

The Domino Effect… & It Includes You!

Dr. Sheena and I talked about the idea of this domino effect, and it opened my eyes to the way our work, and yours, impacts others. For example, when it comes to the brands we design, we’re creating them for the client. But the client is taking what we create and impacting their audience in incredibly powerful ways. It’s this powerful domino effect that fills me with passion, creativity, and energy.

I bet the same is true for you. Have you thought about how many people will be affected by what you’re creating? And how your work inspires your audience to impact their communities, too? Because it absolutely does. And that, my friend, is how we change the world. For real.

xx,

Ariel
