Santorini was everything I wanted it to be. It’s even better than the pictures, which is saying a lot. Our time on the island was filled with beautiful sunsets, amazing food and an endless amount of romantic backdrops. There’s a good reason Santorini is at the top of everyone’s bucket list.
We traveled to Santorini by plane from Athens. It’s a quick 30-minute flight that several airlines offer. We went in February which actually turned out to be a dream. We practically had the entire town to ourselves.
Where to stay
There are two main cities in Santorini, Oia and Fira. I have dreamed of the romantic hillsides of Oia for years, so we chose to stay there. Fira is a bit bigger, but you definitely lose the dreamy, traditional Greek vibe that is so magical about Oia. We stayed at Residence Suites and our accommodations went above and beyond our expectations. I’m pretty sure we had the best view of the island from our balcony. We also had access to a semi-private jacuzzi and terrace. I would definitely recommend Residence Suites for your stay in Oia!

What to do
AMMOUDI BAY
From Oia, you can easily hike down to Ammoudi Bay. It’s such a different feel to be down by the water and there’s a whole new ecosystem to explore.
TRIP TO FIRA
Hop on the city bus and head to Fira for the day! Walk along the cliffside and take in the beautiful views of the island.
ENJOY THE OIA WAY OF LIFE
Just relax! The beauty of Oia is the setting. Enjoy sipping a drink with a view and take in the slower paced island life.

VITRIN CAFE
Go here for breakfast – chill vibe, amazing waffles & ocean views.
SKIZA CAFE
Go here for the PIZZA. We came here every day because the pizza was that good. Second best I’ve ever had (and the first was in Naples).

THALAMI
Go here for an amazing, traditional Greek dinner. Thalamai was our favorite restaurant on the island.
ROKA
Another great restaurant for authentic Greek food. A little off the beaten path. Beautiful ceramic dishware & they served us complimentary dessert after our meal.

Santorini far surpassed all my expectations.
Yes, it’s touristy. Yes, it’s cliche. Yes, everyone wants to go there.
But it’s one of the most magical places on earth and a MUST-SEE destination for all.
Happy traveling!

Ariel
